REPORT CONTENT
These directions are for a research assignment on a health related career OR a health agency. It is your chance to see a part of the world of work and service. It will give you a little look at what’s going on in the “real world” outside of school.
Each student will present an ORAL Report and a 3 page TYPED Report (title page, one page summary, and a two source reference page). Computers are available in the library and career center during lunch, and before and after school. This assignment is worth 100 points, 50 points for the oral presentation and 50 for the typed portion. No handwritten reports or late reports accepted.
The following information to be included on the oral and typed reports for a health career:
1. Name of career.
2. Extent of education and/or training required for this career.
3. Responsibilities of a person in this career
4. Personal qualifications necessary to pursue this career (example: caring, patient, responsible)
5. List intrinsic rewards (example: knowing you’re helping someone) or benefits of this career (examples: medical, dental retirement benefits)
6. Salary range
7. Daily and weekly work schedule (List the hours) (Weekdays, weekends, on call?)
8. What is the occupational outlook? (Is there a future with this kind of job?)
9. Any additional information about the career?

The following information to be included on the oral and typed reports for a health agency:
1. Name, address of agency, and name and title of person contacted.
2. What service does the agency offer?
3. How many people does the agency serve in a year?
4. How many people are employed at the agency? Any volunteers?
5. Annual budget: Where does the money come from to operate the agency?
6. Yes or no, are there any departments located in the agency?
7. If yes to question six, list the names of the departments located in the agency.
8. List other careers needed at this agency for it to be of service (example: administration, doctors, nurses, secretary, receptionist, accountants, custodians)
9. Any additional information about this agency.

Oral Reports (50 points)
The oral presentation will be graded on answering the 9 questions (5 points an answer). Five points will be graded on your presentation: eye contact, clarity of voice, volume, body posture, and the omission of “ums”, “uhs”, “ands”, and “like”. DO NOT READ YOUR SUMMARY!!!! REFER TO YOUR INDEX CARDS! (I suggest one index card per question.)
Format for Typed Reports (50 points): Typed reports must be typed. No handwritten reports or late reports will be accepted.
The typed report should consist of three pages: 1) title page (career or agency name, your first and last name, Health, date, and hour), 2) one full page summary (no less), with paragraphs answering the 9 questions listed above (single or double space with 1.25 margins, font 12), and 3) two references (follow guidelines).
