PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS PROCEDURES
Attendance:
1. Attendance
is required. The student attendance record affects
his/her grade.
2. Cutting
class will result in suspensions and failure.
3. The
student must be on time to class. Failure to do this
will result in loss of points.
Class Dress:
1.
The following is the standard P.E. uniform
for Rockford Guilford High School.
- Gym shoes
- White socks
- Guilford P.E.
blue uniform shorts (only 1 pair only). Layering of
gym shorts is not accepted and will result in a
deduction of points.
- Guilford P.E.
T-shirt.
2. For
cold weather you will need a sweat suit that may be worn
over uniform.
3. One-piece
swimsuit for girls and swim trunks for boys may be
required for swimming. You will also need to furnish
your own towel during the swimming unit.
4.
DO NOT wear shirts underneath your
P.E. shirt. Layering of shirts is NOT accepted and will
result in a deduction of points.
5. NO
BACKPACKS will be allowed in class. They must fit in
your locker. You are responsible for them. Do NOT
bring valuables to class/locker room.
Grading:
1.
Each teacher will evaluate the students’
level of participation, give skill and/or written tests
and a final exam to determine a grade for each unit.
2.
Each student starts class with 100
points. At the end of 9 weeks this grade will be
reduced by:
a. 10%
unexcused absence (must attend 2 make-ups to make-up an
unexcused absence)
b.
5% no dress or no participation
c. 5%
after 3 excused absences **After 3 excused absences
it will result in a grade reduction.
You must attend 1 PE make-up for an
excused absence.
d.
2% partial uniform
e.
2 % tardies
f.
2% participation (except doctors note)
3.
The grading scale used will be as follows:
100% - 90% = A
89% - 80% = B
79% - 70% = C
69% - 60% = D
59% below = F
Medical and Excused Absences:
Parents may excuse a student for up to 3 days, which
will count as part of the 3 excused absences from
activity. If it is necessary for a student to be
excused longer than 3 days, a doctor’s excuse is
required. This excuse must be registered with the nurse
and given to the physical education teacher. If a
student has a doctor’s excuse they will be given
alternative assignments and/or P.E. make-ups.
Make up Sessions:
Dress in P.E uniform and be on time. Make-ups are
every Wednesday either before school (8:45-9:15 AM).
Students will only be allowed to make-up excused
absences.
PE Fees:
Bowling $20.00. There are
3 activities per quarter.
