The Advantage I and II programs are designed for older students who have earned 10 credits or less. Assistance with development of basic skills is available. Programs include:

• Day care and infant care
• Flexible scheduling
• Open entry—open exit
• Class size limited to 15
• Individual learning structure
• Strict attendance policy
• Support services available for students

Entrance requirements:

Ages: 17 to 19(or 16 if a parent or expecting)
Credits: have earned 0 to 10 high school credits

Student should:
Have officially dropped from their home high school
Have paid all outstanding fees at their home high school

Documents required:
Rockford School District students need a recommendation from high school counselor or principal
Out of district students must have a separation letter from their previous school.
Transfers from Illinois schools must also bring an Illinois Transfer form
Transcript
Updated physical and shot record on file

Potential students must:
Attend informational meeting with parent/guardian
Complete 5 day orientation procedure

Schedule:

Advantage I: Monday through Friday
from 8 a.m. to 11:20 a.m.
Advantage II: Monday through Friday
from 10:30 a.m. to 1:50 p.m.

Attendance Policy:

Students will be allowed 3 days of absence per quarter. Absences exceeding 3 days must be all excused to avoid Attendance Violation. Excused absences include: doctor's excuse, court dates, and funerals. The 4th absence (if not excused) puts the student in Attendance Violation, which will result in the student being given a reduced schedule including Attendance Violation class and possibly being reassigned to evening classes.

Curriculum:

Classes are offered in reading, English, algebra, geometry, biology, chemistry, U.S. history, government, economics, AV Sociology, some electives, and GED preparation.

The Advantage IV program offers classes in the late afternoon for interested students currently enrolled in the Alternative High School, Advantage I, or Advantage II programs.

Entrance requirements:

Currently enrolled in Roosevelt Alternative High School, Advantage I or Advantage II programs.

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Attendance Policy:

Students will be allowed 3 days of absence per quarter. Absences will result in counselor and administrative interventions. The fourth absence may result in being dropped from the program.

Curriculum:

Classes are offered in reading, English, algebra, geometry, biology, chemistry, U.S. history, government, economics, work study, some electives, AV sociology, and GED preparation
