The mission of the high school libraries is to assist students in their research in respective disciplines. Through on-going teaching in the use of electronic and paper resources we endeavor to meet the needs of our students, and hopefully, the skills they will have used in the library at Guilford will translate well for them in academia, on the job or in their personal research.

Rockford Public Schools

We are happy to announce that our own district catalog (OPAC) is now available on the web. Students will no longer have to use the AS400, the keyboard function keys, and the accompanying "green screens" to navigate the catalog. It is much easier to use and conforms to other community on-line catalogs.
You will now be able to search not only our school's catalog, but also ALL other school catalogs via a pull down bar. Most importantly the catalog will show patrons "shelf status" for items found within our library collection. The catalog will be found as a link below. You may wish to bookmark this address on your home computer.

     ------------------------

The library enforces the GHS school rule that requires all students to have their ID with them at all times and when they come to the library. As a result, it is no longer necessary for the library staff to look up pages of class lists to verify AUPs.

ID cards issued this school year have "AUP" conveniently printed on the card which verifies they have an AUP on file. If their card does not have AUP printed on it, the student needs to obtain a blank AUP authorization form from the library or office and take it home for signatures and return it to the library ASAP. The library will then affix a colored sticker to represent an AUP on their ID card with the date and library staff initials. The library will promptly enter AUP into the student's record and it will appear on their student ID the next time ID cards are printed.

Students are reminded that without their ID cards, they limit their use of the library. Thank you for your cooperation.
