Projects

College Algebra projects are an important part of your class.  Some projects will be individual activities, but others will be small group.  Projects are opportunities to learn about applications of the mathematics we will learn and they will be designed to make use of technology.  This will often include use of graphing calculators and computers using software such as Word and PowerPoint.  They may also involve use of the internet.  These resources are available in school, but also are commonly found at home.

PREP TIME
Most of the prep time will be required to be outside of the classroom, however some time will be allowed in class for initial organization and group planning as well as putting materials together for the final product.  Of course your group can consult with the teacher if you have questions or problems developing your project.  For minor issues - just ask in class.  For larger problems your group should plan to ask for a time after school that we can all meet.

Due Dates
Due dates for the projects are considered to be absolutely final.  In other words - the date that projects are due will NOT be extended even with an excused absence.  (The only exception would be the cancellation of school due to natural disaster or weather.)  Students are therefore encouraged to submit projects early if possible as a precaution.  Late submission of any materials will NOT be accepted.  Therefore if projects are not turned by the due date the grade will be a ZERO.

For information on using your calculator to generate screens which can be "captured" and put in your presentations - both PowerPoint and Word - use the "Capture Calculator Screens" choice from the menu on the left.

Projects will be assigned for both individual and group work.

Remember "Projects" count as 10% of your overall grade, so they are an important item to seriously consider working to earn a good grade.
